VIKING WARRIOR WOMEN [1X60]

Producer–Director | National Geographic / Disney+ / Wild Blue Media

Viking Warrior Women explored one of the most debated questions in Viking history — were women active warriors rather than simply observers of Viking society?

Filmed across Scandinavia, the documentary combined archaeology, forensic science, experimental reconstruction and cinematic location filming to investigate new evidence surrounding a high-status Viking grave believed to belong to a female warrior. Working alongside scientists, historians and presenter Ella Al-Shamahi, I helped shape a visually ambitious film designed to bring a thousand-year-old story back to life for a modern audience.

A major part of the production involved blending factual investigation with atmospheric reconstruction sequences inspired by Viking mythology, landscape and warfare. I was particularly interested in creating a film that felt immersive and cinematic while remaining grounded in genuine scientific discovery and historical debate.

The documentary featured cutting-edge facial reconstruction and DNA analysis alongside dramatic location photography filmed across remote Scandinavian landscapes.

The Guardian described the documentary as:
“Think of a Viking warrior and you probably imagine a fearsome, muscular, bearded man. Well, think again.”
